Metro: São Cristavão

Both within the Quinta Boa Vista park the National Museum and Zoo are well worth a day trip. As well as these two main attractions there are frequent organised events.

The National Museum houses a natural history exhibition of both and native and foreign species. The best section is on the Indigenous Indians and there is a large collection of pottery and tools. The high quality exhibits in the Egyptian Room are a very nice surprise. Photography is not allowed.

The park grounds are extensive and you can hire a veranda bike to cycle around on !

Rio Zoo is home to an impressive collection of South American animals. If you don't have the time or the explorer instinct for a trip to the Amazon this is the place to see them! The aviaries and big cat houses are the best.
